pile of social media logos piling up our lives

I personally refer to social media like this. Isn’t it a storm? It is a never-ending advanced and attractive storm that we tend to get into and are totally unaware of the pain it is substantially injecting in our physical and emotional lives. Using your phone and apps to an extent can do no harm, whereas if it is preoccupying you, and if your phone’s absence is driving you mad, then it is something to be looked into. People who can happily spend some time without their social media in proximity and without thinking about it are considered to be perfectly alright, free from the social dilemma.

How does social medial affect people?

Sleep cycle disturbed:

I seriously do not the reason behind the pleasure social media bestows during the night than in the daytime. Teens tend to stick to social media all night without giving a damn about the time. This leads to sleep deprivation which can greatly leave you stressed.

Attention seeking:

Attention is basic for every human being. But is different in the social storm. People deeply caught up in this social storm, crave views, likes, comments, etc. To conclude, they crave attention. More likes and comments give them pleasure, they go on cloud nine. People with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) may have attention-seeking.

Spoilt self-esteem:

Everyone has their own set of imperfections. But sometimes we go through various profiles, check many things on social media, and recall our insignificant insecurities. This is a great threat to our self-esteem. Doing this would make you feel bad about yourselves which is not necessary as it instills depression and stress.

Cyberbullying:

10% of today’s teens are suffering from cyberbullying. Offensive comments, threats, blackmails, etc. are the activities. Cyberbullying is often acquainted with suicidal thoughts, anxiety, depression, and stress.

Social media is fun, but one should make sure they are not controlled.
