mental illness

I feel mental health is more important than physical health because though we are physically fit for doing a certain job, we can’t sustain in that particular job until and unless we have a healthy mind.

In this over-scheduled life, we are often susceptible to mental illness.

Now, how do you come to know that your mental health has been affected?

Well, let me tell you.

When you are continuously overthinking about a certain topic.

When you are constantly worried about an issue.

When you excessively have negative thoughts.

When you are immoderately stressing out.

When you try to isolate yourself.

These are a few symptoms that alert you about mental illness.

I often see people feeling ashamed and guilty about their mental illness.  I think it’s because of the situations that they have encountered.

Situations like:

People not mingling with them properly anymore.

People considering them as “ harmful” and “ dangerous.”

People who are suffering from mental illness need our care and concern. They want them to be equally respected in society.

How can we take care of our mental health?

Positive attitude:

Surround yourself with people who have a positive mindset. Try to learn from your mistakes rather than overthinking about it. Overthinking often puts you in trouble. Try to concentrate on good things in life.

Speak about your mental illness:

Vocalize about what you feel, do not hide it, Let your dear ones know what you are suffering from so that they can find means to help you out.

Healthy routine:

Eat healthy food, exercise regularly, practice meditation. Relax for some time.

Try to allot some time for your hobbies. Doing this can refresh your mind and can better your mental health.

Consult an expert:

Do not neglect your mental illness. Consult a psychologist or a psychiatrist if necessary. An expert can analyze your condition thoroughly and provide you with pertinent ways to cope up with it.

Awareness:

Create awareness among people. Let people know the severity of mental illness. Educate them about the basic symptoms of mental illness. Share your experience if necessary.
